Emmerdale Spoilers: Rhona’s Life Changes Forever As Marlon Falls Seriously Ill

A terrifying event occurs (Picture: ITV)

Emmerdale has been teasing a life-changing catastrophe hitting the Dingles for some time now, and we know that upcoming episodes will see Marlon (Mark Charnock) suffering a huge stroke in devastating scenes.

He falls ill just after he and Rhona (Zoë Henry) have proposed to each other, pledging their futures together and planning a happy life. April (Amelia Flanagan) finds him barely conscious and unable to speak, and calls an ambulance.

When Rhona rushes to the hospital to be by his side she’s told that he needs emergency surgery. In hugely emotional scenes, a scared and confused Marlon tries to plead with her not to leave him, but he’s unable to talk. Rhona is overwhelmed when she sees how ill he is and rushes from the room so he doesn’t see how upset she is.

As she waits for him to come round from the surgery she wonders about the effect this will have on the rest of their lives.

More: Soaps

Emmerdale has worked closely with the Stroke Association to develop the storyline and, assuming Marlon makes it through the surgery, it’s clear that life for him and Rhona is going to be very different from the life they imagined when they proposed.

Marlon is likely to require a lot of care, at least at the beginning. How will Rhona adjust to that new role? Will she have to give up work to care for him full time?

It’s a very uncertain future for the two of them and their family and friends in the village, with some emotional and dramatic times ahead.
