Daniel Sturridge has been ordered by a Los Angeles court to pay the $30,000 (£22,400) reward he offered to a man who found his dog when it was lost in 2019.

Lucci went missing from his house in LA with the former England striker saying that the dog had been stolen, offering the hefty reward for its return.

Foster Washington, a local musician, found the Pomeranian, shared photos of it on social media and Sturridge got his beloved beast back.

The 32-year-old, who now plays for Perth Glory in Australia, is yet to pay up the reward money and Washington took the matter to court.

The LA court has ordered Sturridge to pay up $30,085 after failing to honour the reward.

Washington, who also goes by his rap name Killa Fame, is still concerned that he won’t get the cash from the former Liverpool and Chelsea man.

‘Hopefully he pays up and doesn’t try to appeal it,’ Washington told PA.

‘I’m excited about it, I’ve been fighting this case for over a year, I can’t believe it’s over.

‘When we found the dog I thought my life was going to be better.’

Sturridge signed for Perth Glory in October but it has not got off to a perfect start, recently pulling out of a match against Western United because he’s not used to such long flights to matches.

Perth Glory owner Tony Sage said on SEN: ‘Look, a lot of consultation goes ahead, and when I saw the team sheet I made the call to sound out why (Sturridge was left out).

‘After a talk between the two – the player and the coach – he didn’t feel he could contribute.

‘Richie (Richard Garcia) said it in the post-match, he’s not used to a four-hour flight to a game. He’s just not used to it.’
