Lydia feels messed around (Picture: ITV)
Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) is doing his best to try and erase newcomer Lydia (Rebecca Ryan) from his past in Coronation Street – but she is clearly not going anywhere.
To be fair to Lydia, Adam is hardly behaving admirably. When Lydia made friends with Sarah (Tina O’Brien), she was introduced to Adam.
As she greeted him as a friend, he did not recognise her, despite them having dated for six months.
Lydia’s first boyfriend was Adam and she was naturally hurt by this, but her constant presence is giving Adam a hard time.
Not least of all because it is painting him in a bad light to wife Sarah.
So when tonight Sarah and Lydia had a catch up and Sarah let slip that Adam had deemed Lydia’s relationship as nothing, Lydia masked her hurt.
It was clear she was left seething by this and as she left the Rovers, there was a feeling that she won’t let this go.
It remains to be seen quite how dangerous Lydia is but when Sarah becomes even more disheartened by Adam during their New Year date, Lydia has a chance to stir more trouble.
It’s a big story for newcomer Rebecca – who is no stranger to soap fans.
She has previously had major roles in Waterloo Road and Casualty and, as a child actor, she had a long running part in Shameless.
She has been tipped for a major storyline that will challenge Sarah and Adam’s marriage – but with intentions that may subvert expectations.
For now, we are just waiting to see what her game is…
